ABOUT

“EK Colours’ ceramic tiles create an exciting statement piece or feature wall”.

Designed in our Bristol studio, created in Staffordshire, England

EK Colours celebrates the unique qualities of the ceramic medium for the contemporary living context. Combining bold pattern, abstract motifs and a glossy finish, EK Colours’ tiles will create an exciting statement piece or feature wall. The hand-printed, tactile glazed surface of our tile range creates a human connection and adds value and permanence to your space. The collections draw from a range of influences including Modernist European poster art, design and advertising, architecture and urban street signage.

Esther Khang is a Bristol-based designer-maker and ceramic artist whose work delights in the everyday human experience, using found pattern, graphic design and communication. As well as EK Colours tiles, Esther creates paper collages and paintings with a 1920s and 1930s design aesthetic, influenced by movements such as Bauhaus, Constructivism, de Stijl and Dada.

“Using both ceramic & paper surfaces, I love to explore and play with vibrant layouts. I seek the most intuitive compositions, colour palettes & contrasts that really speak to me. By stripping down to the essence of an artwork, only then does it seem to come close to something bold & striking.”
